Brow Powdering & Microblading

  • Brow powdering is a semi-permanent pigmentation procedure which adds a soft fullness to your brows. Unlike microblading where stroke lines mimicking hairs are added to the brow area for coverage, powdering adds an extremely fine layer of dotting to the skin which fades to a natural look in a few days.

Results last between 1-2 years without touchups and pigment will gradually fade during this time.

Includes: Consultation, brow mapping and session of pigmentation deposit.

    Duration: 2-3hrs

    Pricing: $450

Lip Blushing & Neutralizing

  • This procedure adds a natural or bold tinting of colour to the lips.

In some cases blushing will need to be preceded by neutralization for desired effects.

Lip blushing can also be used to correct symmetry or add a small amount of fullness to the lip line.

Includes: Consultation, mapping and colour selection, initial pigmentation session.

    Duration: 2-3hrs

Pricing: $475 (darker/vibrant tones require more pigmentation and therefore cost slightly more)

  • Lip neutralization is a process where specific colours of pigment are deposited into the lips to even out and brighten your overall tone. Perfect for those with discolouration they want corrected.

Sometimes lips will need to be neutralized before a chosen colour can be applied to ensure even tone and coverage.

Clients who have had neutralization completed at Sparks Salon are welcome to a blushing session to add colour of choice for only $300 if booked within 3 months of neutralization follow up session.

PMU FAQ’s

  • Semi-Permanent Makeup or Cosmetic Tattooing is a procedure where a tiny needle is used to deposit pigment into your skin.

The pigment is not deposited as deep as a traditional tattoo giving results that fade over a period of 1-3 years.

While there are many cosmetic tattooing options available in the industry, at Sparks Salon we focus on the most natural enhancements available such as powdering, blushing and dotting.

  • Semi-Permanent makeup is great for anyone who is looking for some natural looking enhancements to compliment their natural features. Imagine waking up every day with a flawless, natural makeup look already applied.

Some of the benefits of semi-permanent makeup include:

    • Saving time on makeup application and removal

    • Waking up feeling more confident

    • Better skin due to not wearing as much makeup

    • Not having to reapply makeup due to active lifestyle/perspiration

    • Those who have difficulty applying makeup

    • Those looking to correct slight discolouration or balance slight irregularities in symmetry

  • We offer various types of permanent makeup at Sparks Salons:

    Brow Powdering

Like having your brows tinted all the time. A great option for clients whose brows are too sparse to benefit from brow lamination but would like a fuller, more shapely appearance.

Unlike micro-blading, powdering is a fine dusting of colour rather than strokes.

We recommend booking a brow tint with Antonina before having your powdering session done as results will look similar.

    Ombre Brows

This is similar to the brow powdering procedure except the brow lines are more defined and the pigment is more concentrated/darker at the ends of your brows than the beginning. This can be a bolder look than powdering alone and giving a more defined appearance to the brows.

    Microblading

Strokes of pigment are deposited into the brow creating the effect of strands. This is perfect for clients who are looking to fill in bare spaces, add length or fullness or correct shaping.

    Lip Blushing and Neutralization

This procedure adds a natural tinting of colour to the lips or can be used to neutralize unwanted colours or even out the tone.

In some cases blushing will need to be preceded by neutralization for desired effects.

Lip blushing can also be used to correct symmetry or add a small amount of fullness to the lip line.

    Lash Line Enhancement

Unlike lash liner, this pigment is deposited into your lash line for a more natural effect.

This procedure gives a darker, but natural appearance to the lash line but does not add a “wing” or deposit colour on to the eyelid or waterline.

  • Semi-permanent makeup lasts between 1-3 years depending on many factors such as your skins composition, general health, aftercare and lifestyle.

Touchups are recommended every few months to maintain colour and shape but their frequency depends on the factors listed above as well as the boldness/brightness fo the colour you chose. For example a brighter, red blush will require more frequent touchups to maintain their colour than a more natural, less pigmented colour will.

  • Yes. Our artist is formerly trained and certified and follows strict health and safety guidelines. All tools and implements that come in contact with our clients are one use and discarded immediately after the appointment.

If there is any concern regarding the safety of a service our artist will inform the client of the issue and the procedure will be cancelled or rescheduled.

  • While pain is relative, we have had feedback ranging between feeling almost nothing to mild discomfort. Typically lips are the most uncomfortable of the three procedures we offer, luckily they are usually completed within one session and require minimal touch ups.

We have not had one client say that the service was uncomfortable enough to outweigh the benefits of the finished results.

Your artist will do their best to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure by stopping periodically to check on you and by applying topical numbing agents if requested.

At the end of the day, it is up to you as the client to assess whether you are willing to tolerate some mild discomfort to experience the benefits of semi-permanent makeup.

  • Directly after your procedure, and for about 4-10 days, the colour will be its darkest/most vivid. This is not the final colour and can look a little like wearing heavy makeup. There may also be some redness and swelling which should clear up quickly.

In the following days you will experience some mild itching and flaking to the area. It is important not to pico or scratch at the area as this can cause scaring or discolouration. This should be cleared up by the middle of the second week.

There are some activities you should avoid directly after your procedure, which are outlined in the aftercare section on this page, however there is no real “downtime” associated with semi-permanent makeup and most should be able to go about their day to day tasks unaffected.

For the fastest recovery process always follow your before and after care instructions.

  • Touch up appointments are only for existing semi-permanent clients of Sparks Salon.

If you are a new client to our semi-permanent services you will require a consultation and initial appointment.

If you already have cosmetic tattooing on the area you would like retouched an in-salon consultation will be required before booking. We are typically able to accommodate however previous pigment should be at least 50-70% faded.

  • Yes. Semi-permanent makeup is a great option for all skin tones and shades as the colours can be customized to each clients unique complexion.

As with conventional makeup, muted and natural shades will not be as visible (especially for lip blushing) and our artist may recommend more vibrant or darker, more pigmented, shades be used in order to best showcase your enhancement.

  • While our artist uses her professional training and experience to create your unique shape and colour, you do have the option to adjust these details to some extent.

For example If you are someone who likes to change your brow shape with trends you can allow your pigment to fade and then come in and have our artist map out a new shape or thickness for your touchup appointment.
