There are several types of gel and acrylic nail services that we offer at the salon. When booking your appointment you will notice that they are interchangeable . Here is a quick description of the services.

• Gel Manicure: Gel polish is a nail colouring product which is like a hybrid between nail polish and hard gels. Gel polishes incorporate the best of both products: durability and instant-dry curing of gels with the brush-in-bottle application and easier removal of polishes. Gel polishes last 12+ days without chipping or peeling, but you are best to have your gel polish removed by a professional as over buffing or scraping of the nail plate can lead to thinning and other damage. We use CND Shellac, OPI Gel Color, BioSeaweed and Artistic Nail Design brands of gel polish at Sparks Salon.

• Gel Shield: A clear layer of hard gel applied between your gel polish colour and top coat layers to add longevity. Ideal for clients who have slower growing nails and want to get an additional week of wear out of their gel polish manicures.

• Gel or Acrylic Overlay: Hard gel or acrylic is applied to your natural nail to add strength. An overlay can be refilled just like a nail extension.

• Gel, Acrylic or Aprés Gel X Nail Extensions: Hard gel or acrylic is used to build an extension of your natural nail in order to add length. Your nail extensions should be refilled every 2-3 weeks depending on their condition and the growth rate of your nails.

• Gel or Acrylic Refill: A gel or acrylic refill is a maintenance and reinforcement session for your overlay or extensions to ensure that there is no lifting, make any necessary repairs and fill the gap between the cuticles. You should schedule a refill session every 2-3 weeks and a full removal and reapplication every couple of months or as recommended by your nail technician.

Aprés Gel-X is a fast and easy to apply soak-off gel extension system. They wear and last just like traditional hard gel and acrylic nail extensions but there is no dust, odour and no damage to your natural nails during application or removal. Aprés Gel-X nails can also be refilled like regular nail extensions.

Traditional hard gel and acrylic nail extensions are available, however we do encourage clients to try out Aprés between refills as many of our die hard acrylic lovers have made the switch.

No. We only complete refills on overlays and nail extensions that were done at our salon, with our products. If you have an overlay or set of nail extensions that were done at another salon we will have to remove them and apply a new set if you would like to have one of our nail technicians service you.

Please note that we are strict on this rule. There is a discounted removal rate available for clients who would like to switch nail salons or have our techs create a set for them.

There are certain simple designs that can be done with regular polish, such as a french or half moon, but in general our designs are created on a gel polish base using gel and acrylic products.

If you would like a design created using regular polish please send us an image of the design you would like so we can ensure that it is possible.

Our nail technicians love what they do and are meticulous in their work…however no one is perfect.

If you have any issues (such as chipping, peeling, cracking etc) within 7 days of your gel manicure or nail enhancement services please let us know within those 7 days and we will get you back into the salon for a complimentary fix or redo.
